Home > About MeAbout MeHi! My name is Rachel Farnam, and I am a quilter. I can't tell you how long I have been quilting for because I can't remember, I simply decided that it was time for me to begin piecing one day (we think that I was probably around thirteen). It was a natural progression for me. My Grandmother was a quilter, and my talented and patient Aunt is a quilter. They started me on small needlework projects at a young age. I cannot remember either one of them without a ziplock bag in their purse with some sort of handwork in it. They always encouraged me, and supplied me with more than enough projects and materials to keep me busy. When I decided that I wanted to quilt my Aunt didn't push me. She just bought me some fabric and taught me when I asked for help. She bought me my own machine at twenty-two and continued to be there to help, allowing me to learn and experience quilting in my own direction at my own pace.This brings us to today. I am thirty-one years old. Over the last ten or so years I have lived in Massachusetts, Wyoming, Kansas, rural Missouri, and Washington before finally returning back home to St. Louis, Missouri. I quilt when I get the chance, and my six-year-old daughter is beginning to do some handwork. QUILT BLOCK PARTY. The common bond of quilting turns strangers into friends, and I have felt welcomed across the country. I have been lucky to find peers and quilting resources everywhere that I have lived and traveled. I am hoping give you the same experience to you through this website. I am trying to develop a complete list of quilt shops, online and brick and mortar, as well as resources, guides, guilds, etc. Not everyone has an Aunt that they can call every time that they have a question. This site can't replace that, but maybe it can help you find your own niche in the quilting world. Hence the title, like a block party this site should give you a chance to at least meet everyone.
